Menurut Ketua Harian MSC Yogyakarta Wiwid Bayu, kegiatan ini merupakan bentuk keakraban antara calon anggota dengan para anggota klub Vespa. "Tujuannya untuk keakraban, terus untuk saling mencintai sesama anggota, untuk mempererat persaudaraannya," ujar Wiwid.

Selain melakukan mandi oli, para calon anggota baru juga harus saling bersuap-suapan saat makan. Mereka juga harus mengikuti lomba mendorong Vespa dengan kondisi mesin mati.
Salah satu calon anggota baru merasa senang dengan kegiatan seperti ini karena dapat menambah keakraban dibandingkan perpeloncoan dengan kekerasan yang sering dilakukan genk motor lain.

"Saya merasa bangga karena saya sebagai anggota baru saya dilantik seperti ini untuk mental kita sendiri dan untuk jaga-jaga kalau nanti di jalan ada apa fisik saya sudah terisi," cetus Agus, calon anggota MSC.

Perpeloncoan ini kemudian diakhiri dengan mandi bersama di objek wisata Bendungan Ancol. Perpeloncoan model ini dapat memberi contoh pada klub motor lain untuk tidak berbuat kekerasan saat menerima anggota baru.

Film yang diangkat dari novel karya Graham Greene yang ditulis pada 1939 ini, rencananya akan melibatkan ratusan Vespa klasik dan Lambretta sebagai figuran.

Seperti dikutip dari BBC, pihak rumah produksi film remake tersebut telah menyeleksi 200 pengendara Vespa klasik dan Lambretta untuk mulai syuting di sejumlah daerah di Brighton dan Eastbourne, Inggris.

"Tim produksi meminta 200 skuter klasik produksi 1960-an. Mereka juga memilih Circa 1964," tulis situs tersebut.
